Project Scope: The Stockey Centre is a point of pride for Parry Sound area residents. The new website needed to be a visual, online representation of the world-class performance centre that we at Linkhouse Media knew it to be. The solution: A custom content management built specifically to suit the Stockey Centre's needs.
What We Did
Custom Content Management System (CMS) » Rather than installing a third party application Linkhouse Media built a custom CMS specific to the client's needs. The client's site administrators have full control over all text and media and events presented on the webiste with a learning curve smaller than that of a third party application. The client received exactly what they asked for and needed; Nothing more. Nothing less. On time. On Budget.
Search Engine Optimization » We made every effort to ensure the changeover from the existing site to our new one was smooth. That included a SEO strategy involving historical redirects and dynamic XML site mapping. We made sure that no matter whether it's you or Google™ browsing the site you find what you're looking for. If it's not there anymore, we'll tell you. No more nasty 404 error pages.
SEO Friendly Event URLs » We saw the implementation of a REST-style URL format as paramount in keeping with search engine friendliness. Rather than calling our dynamic content using standard query strings in the URL which don't provide any useful information to the visitor, we implemented blog-style URLs for the events. This not only helps in identifying a bookmark, for example but it also helps search engines index pages in a meaningful way. Further, when a new event is added by the client, our XML sitemap is updated automatically to help search engines index the page in a timely manner.
